Not Doing Well
There is a Cybertruck that I see sometimes on the road when I'm coming in to work, and it was there again this morning. It was on the opposite side of the back road I was driving, coming towards me, headlight on, looking like something a child in the 1970s would have drawn: futuristic in some imaginary way, ostentatious, ugly, vaguely militaristic. "Swastikars," people are calling Teslas now, and it is very appropriate.
I had a quick fantasy of swerving into his lane ("his" because of course it would be, some insecure white man who feels like he needs to flash his ability to pay $120,000 for a poorly-constructed, badly-designed, bomb on wheels to other insecure white men), startling him into driving off the road and into a tree, and seeing how long it took for the truck to catch fire.
I may not be doing well these days, given the state of this country and honestly most of this world, where hatred is encouraged and evil is celebrated, but I still have some restraint left in me. Not much, but some.
I kept on driving.
