Can We Just Do The November Elections Now Please?

Typewriter

I am only affiliated with an American political party (Democratic) so that I can vote in primaries. That’s it. Otherwise, I just stay firmly in the Independent category, because I’m not really a fan of politicians in general. Even the ones I’m a fan of, I don’t really like. And while I do basically just vote straight down the Democratic ticket when it’s time to do the deed (with an occasional Independent or Green Party in there, but never Republican, especially in these modern days where they are all Trumper toady bootlickers), that doesn’t mean that I approve of the candidates so much as I disapprove of their opponents.

I said all that to say this: I would like to vote today so that Susan Collins will stop sending junk mail to my house.

Mind you, this trash mail isn’t addressed to my wife or me. It’s addressed to the previous two families who have owned our house before us. It comes about four or five days a week, flyers and cards and letters, mixed in with our actual mail.

Susan Collins: Health Care, Yeah Whatever!

Susan Collins: Trans Kids Are The Devil!

Susan Collins: My Concern Is Real Big About Stuff!

Our mail carrier knows we don’t want this, but has to deliver it anyway (because it is addressed to the previous owners or “current resident”). There is no way to stop it. It goes straight into our burn pile or into the shredder for chicken bedding.

There is no world in which I would vote for Susan Collins (maybe if it came down to a race between her and Pinhead from the Hellraiser movies, but that’s a very strong maybe because Pinhead had way better fashion sense than Collins does). There should also be no world in which I am endlessly bombarded with junk mail from her campaign.

And yet here we are.

Have the election today, I say, so Susan Collins will stop reaching out to me.

Please. Make it stop.
