What Blaugust Has Taught Me About My Blogging

Typewriter

So here we are, at the end of August, and the end of Blaugust as well, and so as not to bury the lede: I have learned from participating this year that I really am not designed to crank out a daily post unless I have something I want to say.

Look, I’ve done 30 of 31 posts this month, and most of those I feel are just there because of the self-imposed pressure to participate. Too many of them were of the “crap, it’s bedtime and I’m ready to sleep but I forgot to do my post so here’s a list of things I ate today” variety. Bzzt.

I did post a few that I was pleased with, but those are ones I would have done anyway, Blaugust notwithstanding. I also posted a few images instead of text, which I would have done as well, so it’s not all just wasted data on my cell plan.

Having said that, I really did enjoy everyone else’s posts, so Blaugust does have something going for it. For me though, I don’t think I’ll be participating next year on this one. I didn’t like the feeling of just making the widgets on an assembly line in order to achieve quota.

How about the rest of you out there? How do you feel about this whole Blaugust thing?
