Chatting While the Robot Lawnmower Mows

I spent some down time at work today chatting with an 86 year old man, both of us standing in the lobby, neither of us in any rush. It wasn’t any sort of serious conversation about anything meaningful, just two people killing a little time. While we were chatting, I noticed a robot lawnmower across the street, doing what lawnmowers do: mowing the lawn.
“There’s a robot lawnmower over there,” I told him, pointing.
He looked, then said, “Well ain’t that a thing.”
We watched the robot for a while, making a pass across the grass, turning about, going the other direction.
“I ought to load it up in the back of my truck and take it home,” the old man said. “Do my yard and then the neighbor’s.”
“I’ll help you if you really want to do it,” I said.
He thought about it a minute, then said, “I might tomorrow maybe, if it’s still there. I got things to do today.”
“I’ll be here in the morning,” I said. “Just in case.”
So I’ve penciled in grand theft robot for tomorrow.
Just in case.
