Maybe the Real Tiny New Internet Was the People We Tied Up and Locked In Our Basement Until They Became Our Friends Along the Way

I’ve been blogging for more than a couple of decades now, in one place or another (and boy how time does fly when you think about it), and it’s always been fun to scatter words out into the world and see if anything sticks. I’ve made some good friends this way, and hopefully I’ll make a few more before I’m done (I don’t have a contact page with my email on it here for nothing, people!). If you’re reading this, I appreciate you.
It’s cold up here in Stephen King Country this morning, but not as cold as it has been the past few days. This is both good and bad at the same time: good, because hey! Getting out of single digit temps is a great thing for the body and mind; bad, because there’s another little storm coming in that in the warmer air is going to leave a lot of slush over the snow and ice that’s already here, and then when the temps go down again in a few days, the entire state will be transformed into a skating rink.
I am not made for skating. My ankles are my weakest link (probably not; I’m sure other bits of me are more likely to do me in than my noodle ankles).
Anyway.
I have been tinkering with the blog here (as part of my 2026 non-resolutions), and have added a little thing in the navigation bar called Friendlyplace. Down in there, you’ll find my postroll (because I love a postroll, I tell you what!), and (soon to be added) my blogroll, so that you can hopefully go and find yourself some new people to read and follow in the blogosphere, and maybe make yourself some new friends out of it.
Remember: I’m pushing the idea of an old internet here on this current one. Embrace the smaller, get into the non-corporate, eyeball the weird, and try to build yourself a community of cool and friendly weirdos who don’t want to burn the world down in a Fascist Capitialist dance party of stupidity and venality. That’s not asking too much, is it?
And remember to shoot emails off to people that you dig, especially if they don’t have comment sections on their blogs! MAKE SOME NEW FRIENDS, DAMMIT!
Hello. I am pushy sometimes.
You’re welcome.
(Shoot me an email.)
