Reconnecting, Rereading, Revisiting

Typewriter

Yesterday, I started messaging some old friends I hadn’t spoken with in literal ages. One of them, it’s been about a decade since we last connected. One I haven’t seen in person in over two decades. None of us had any falling out or anything between us. Life just got in the way, and we all went different places and did different things and time moved on and then other things happened and time still kept on moving… as time does.

Most of my friends have reached back to my reaching out, either via text or Signal or email. It’s been nice to chat briefly with them, and now that we’re reconnecting, it’ll be good to keep that going. I’ve missed these people.

I got the impulse to reconnect by going through an archive of old videos and photos, and seeing all of these people as I knew them Way Back When. We’re all older, but in my mind at least, we are not.

I am not as antisocial as I put out into the world.

In a similar vein of rediscovery, I have been digging through pieces of an old manuscript that I have been working on off and on for… forever? It feels like forever, anyway. I don’t want to touch it again right now, because I’m finishing reading a couple of long books and I want to get them out of the way first, but I also do want to touch it, because I’ve got a little itch that is wanting to be scratched, and I’m wondering if this manuscript is what is going to do it.

Manuscript, I just can’t quit you.
